About Connie Cassinetto
My background in photography dates back many years, but in 2010 I began to take it seriously as a fine art. I spent a week in Missoula, Montana at the Rocky Mountain School of Photography with Tony Rizzuto in 2012. I’ve studied with a variety of professional photographers since that time, including John Shaw, Dave Wyman, Phil Schermeister from National Geographic Magazine, Gale Perry, Russ Burden with Outdoor Photographer Magazine, and Michael Frye with the Ansel Adams Gallery in Yosemite and Outdoor Photographer. I have attended seminars with Scott Kelby’s Joe McNally, and with Tony Sweet and Gary Crabbe. In May 2013 I received my A.A. in Fine Art-Photography at Columbia Junior College. In February 2015 I became an Adobe Certified Expert in Adobe Lightroom and was a Lightroom instructor at Columbia Junior College in Sonora for a few years.
I also write photography articles for the Nikonian.org website, a membership website for Nikon users and the articles often focus on wildlife photography. I travel frequently, from around California to Europe and other countries to take photographs. In recent years I have become more interested in wildlife photography and have visited Yellowstone NP over six times, along with trips to Costa Rica and Africa to photograph wildlife.
Over the years I've won more than 40 awards in competitive exhibits that include Best of Show to Honorable Mention. Juried competitions I've entered include the Madera County Arts Council, the Tuolumne County Arts Alliance InFocus Photography Competition and Exhibition, the Northern Valley Art League International Photography Show, the Lodi Art Association Spring Art Show and Annual Photography Show, the Calaveras County Arts Council, the Carnegie Arts Center in Turlock, and the Lodi Sandhill Crane Festival Art Show. To date I have won 39 awards, 19 in juried shows. In November I won two awards at the 2023 Sandhill Crane Festival, a first place and a third place in the Other Wild Animals in California category.
Exhibits, galleries and other entries include the annual KVIE Channel 6 Art Auction, Hovery Winery Tasting Room in Murphys, Ventana Gallery and Aloft Gallery in Sonora, and the 1987 Railtown State Historic Park Exhibit in Jamestown. My work has been published in Sea Magazine, Bay & Delta Yachtsman Magazine, The Union Democrat, the Lodi News Sentinel, and on various professional pieces and web sites.
